Hello, welcome.

Greg Keen is a graphic designer for film, television and real life, currently based in Cardiff but able to travel to Bristol, London and further afield.

I have just finished as the assistant graphic designer on a Netflix film.

I am looking for graphics/art department roles from October 2021 - please get in touch and I will provide my latest portfolio. In the meantime, my CV is below.

Edito Store

For the launch of their scandinavian-inspired homeware store, I was tasked with creating five prints in collaboration with Edito. Being part of the first curated collection of prints, I wanted the outcome to be bold, fun and memorable. I was certain that a playful approach would achieve that. The outcome is a collection of warm, vintage-inspired prints to suit any home.

Singer & the Backing Singers

Risograph poster for a fictional ballroom midcentury band, created in a few hours.

Album Artwork

Designs for various musicians — one of my favourite types of project.

Wholesome art childrens drawing friends

Friends

A friendly scene, drawn to be printed on to t-shirts.

At the core of his process is the desire to make work with impact. Greg knows that graphic design and illustration can be used to inform real change. It doesn't always have to be this way, but Greg is all about distilling an idea or feeling into something bold and accessible. Just to make one person stop and think makes him happy.

Poster billboard activism BLM strong arm positive

Rising Arts

Commissioned to create illustrations to be used with the agency's new logo, Rising asked me to help give their rebrand traction and to solidify their position as a community of agile and creative young people. Most of all, they wanted to show that they are pioneers of change accessible to everybody. I wanted to inject some comedy and play into the logo in the hope that the audience will see that art can take any form, and that Rising fosters contemporary creative thinking.

In response to the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, I was given the opportunity to contribute to the movement using one of the illustrations which was displayed on multiple billboards around the city.

The Circle (2019)

Stream or Read via The Guardian.

Title ident and credit crawl design for BFI documentary by film-maker, choreographer and performance artist Lanre Malaolu. I am priveleged to have worked with Lanre previously and feel it is important to build trust and connection when being involved in broaching a raw and emotional subject.

Vintage ephemera leaflet 1980 medical outbreak prop design

Graphic Props (work in progress)

This outbreak leaflet is part of a self-initiated project. I tasked myself with creating a set of props for a fictional script in which the Coronavirus outbreak occurs in the 1980s.

Cold Blow Lane (2020)

Part of a live brief for which I created the poster and title typography for feature neo-noir film Cold Blow Lane. A gritty crime thriller set in London, the film revolves around 'Mademoiselle', played by Susan Lynch (Ready Player One and From Hell).

Fun cheeky bottle beverage alcohol design fruit

Neat!

With the name being a nod to hard alcohol, Neat! is an idea for a range of intoxicating drinks without the detrimental effects of alcohol. Researched during my degree, the concept was part of a wider project exploring alcohol in the context of it being classified as a drug. When we take into account the societal effects of alcohol, it is more harmful than heroin.

Based on research by Professor David Nutt which is now gaining popularity in the drinks market, I set out to create a beverage aimed at 18-25 year olds. The drink contains a synthetic component that causes feelings of drunkness without the harmful effects, and comes with an antidote so you can sober up when you've had enough.

No Further East

Book for London-based photographer Diarmuid McDonald, whose project examines the remaining memories of his mother of whom he lost during childhood.

I was given a large number of photos, notes, scrapbook pages and interview texts, and free reign to produce a 100 page book. Using delicate typography with fine details to draw attention to the small amount of significant text, I wanted to ensure the design was fitting with the sensibility of the subject. I saw the book through to the final printed product which was awarded Best in Show by the Financial Times.

The title No Further East was born from the location of many of the photos, Lowestoft, the most easterly town in the U.K.

UPRA

Logos for launch of film-maker, choreographer and performance artist Lanre Malaolu's production outfit. The idea was to convey the idea of an open conversation, as well as movement and expression.

Programme design cinema film festival

Cornwall Film Festival

A live brief, designing the 2016 festival programme cover-to-cover following brand guidelines. I was involved all the way through to proofing and printing. This was made during my time as intern at Venn Creative.

Typography text layout message call to action quote design

Cool Earth

Cool Earth had a problem—their website was convoluted and left visitors disengaged, but they needed donations more than ever. I stuck closely to brand guide-lines whilst helping to redesign the rainforest charity's website and elements within it, outlining their mission, approach and impact. I had fun and made use of illustration and custom lettering to make the stories more visually appealing. Made during my time as intern at Venn Creative.

Greg is 25 and grew up in the East Midlands. He graduated with a BA (Hons.) degree in Graphic Design from Falmouth University in 2016.

If you would like to know more about me and what I do, please feel free to email me. I love a good chat.
